What's New in Third Grade...
Math- In Math we are working on Perimeter and Area.
Math Homework: Please continue working on multiplication fluency all the way to 10x10.
ELA- In ELA we are working on building our reading stamina and fluency.
ELA Homework: Please make sure you are having you child read 20 minutes EVERY night. It is always a good idea to have your child read to you so that you can hear them read. It also help your child practice their reading fluency when reading aloud. Another good way to practice fluency is for you to read a few sentences and for your child to reread the same sentences and try to echo you. We want them to match your accuracy, fluency, speed and expression.
Spelling- Your child is working on spelling grade level words correctly. Each Monday your child should bring home their new spelling words. This is their study guide for the week.
Spelling Homework: Every night your child should do one spelling practice in their spelling journal.
Writing- In Writing we are learning about the 6 Traits of Writing. We are working on opinion writing.
Science/Social Studies - We are taking a break from Science and Social Studies and working on MAP testing strategies.
